1. Plant Operations Management:
• Oversee and coordinate the operation of HMA plant equipment, including aggregate bins, conveyors, dryers, mixers,
and control systems, to produce asphalt mixtures according to project specifications and quality requirements.
• Monitor plant performance, production rates, material flow, and mix consistency to ensure efficient operation,
adherence to production schedules, and compliance with project deadlines.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and paving crews to forecast material requirements, plan production
volumes, and adjust production schedules based on project priorities and specifications.
2. Personnel Supervision and Training:
• Supervise a team of HMA plant operators, technicians, and laborers to ensure safe, efficient, and productive plant
operations.
• Assign tasks, schedule shifts, and coordinate work activities to optimize personnel utilization, maximize production
output, and meet project requirements.
• Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to plant personnel on equipment operation, maintenance procedures,
safety protocols, and quality control practices to enhance skills and performance.
3. Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, inspection protocols, and repair plans for HMA plant
equipment and components to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with maintenance technicians, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to schedule routine maintenance
tasks, repairs, and replacements of worn or damaged parts.
• Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement corrective actions to
address equipment malfunctions or deficiencies.
4. Quality Control and Assurance:
• Implement quality control measures, procedures, and inspections to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and
compliance of asphalt mixtures with project specifications, mix designs, and quality standards.
• Conduct quality control tests and inspections on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished asphalt mixtures
using testing equipment and procedures specified by industry standards and regulatory agencies.
• Monitor and document quality control data, test results, and production records to track performance, identify trends,
and make adjustments to production processes as needed to maintain product quality.
5. Safety and Environmental Compliance:
• Enforce safety regulations, procedures, and protocols governing HMA plant operations, equipment usage, and
occupational health and safety (OSHA) standards to prevent accidents, injuries, or environmental hazards.
• Implement environmental protection measures, spill containment procedures, and waste management practices to
minimize the impact of plant operations on the surrounding environment and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety awareness, hazard
recognition, and accountability among plant personnel.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of plant operations, production volumes, material quantities, quality
control tests, maintenance activities, and safety incidents using logbooks, shift reports, or electronic systems.
• Prepare production reports, performance summaries, and compliance documentation summarizing plant operations,
quality control activities, and environmental monitoring data for review by project management and regulatory
agencies.
